Operational organisation

Naktuinbouw has five departments: Inspections, LaboratoriesVariety Testing, Finance & Facilities and Knowledge & HRM. The heads of the departments report to the two directors of Naktuinbouw.

Financial

The financial structure of Naktuinbouw is shown above.
All the revenues are from companies where inspections are carried out and companies that submit varieties for testing or for activates provided by the laboratories. The costs are calculated based on the cost maker/cost unit principle.
Naktuinbouw does not receive any financial support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation or from the Product Board Horticulture. The total sum involved at Naktuinbouw is 22 million euro annually.

The three sectors - floricultural, arboricultural and vegetable crops that make up the Inspections department each operate with their own budget. This budget is drawn up by the sector boards, which bear responsibility for the budget. Inspection activities are funded by the fees charged for inspections.

The Laboratories and Variety testing departments also have their own budgets and budget responsibilities. Income from activities carried out for the Inspection department and for companies is used to cover the costs of these tasks (tests and assessments for inspection purposes).

Personnel

As of January 2011, Naktuinbouw offers employment to 260 people. Naktuinbouw uses temporary labour for seasonal work. These people are mainly employed in the field services of the Inspection department and at Variety Testing on the trial locations.

Registered companies

Producers of propagating material are naturally primarily responsible for the quality of their products. Naktuinbouw monitors sound operational processes at the registered companies. These companies are breeders, propagators, producers and traders.
