Select Plant participants Alstroemeria

Growing healthy Alstroemeria requires propagating material that is also healthy and of good quality, and that has been tested for viruses, for instance.

To promote this, Naktuinbouw has developed the quality-plus system Naktuinbouw Select Plant for propagating companies. These companies can have high quality propagating material certified at two levels:

1. Certification Class A
The crop or lot of plants is inspected. During the inspection leaf samples are taken, which are tested for cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), alstroemeria mosaic virus (AlMV), alstroemeria streak virus (AlSV) and alstroemeria carla virus (AlCV). A crop or lot will be classified as Class A if it meets the requirements of the standard. There is a 10% maximum tolerance percentage for viruses.

A crop or lot will be classified as Class E if it meets the requirements of the standard. There is a 2% maximum tolerance percentage for viruses.
